Ashton House Museum

     The ASHTON HOUSE MUSEUM is open April through December from Wednesday through Sunday. Although we are not open on Monday or Tuesday, special tours can be arranged on those days (or in the evening) by calling the museum or through contacting the curator, Jim Painting, at his email address. The fees for tours are as follows: adults - $3.00; children ages 4-12 - $2.00; age 3 and under - free. Adult groups of 10 or more are charged $2.00 each.

     Museum displays are completely changed every April and during the month of August. The museum is meant to create a nostalgic journey for some and an education for others. John and Evelyn Ashton opened a 5 and 10 cent store in Carrollton in 1932 and it remains open today. The museum is filled with artifcats from the Ashton stores; from the many civic organizations the Ashton's joined; from their travels; and from their collections. The museum is not just about Carrollton, but about a way of life that exemplified America all the way back to the mid 1800's. Come and enjoy.
