The Kent Choral Society was founded in 1998 by members of the Kent Chorus, a community-university organization at Kent State University to:

• increase awareness and appreciation in the community of our heritage of great choral music through performance and advocacy;
• support choral programs at Kent State University;
• raise public awareness of the Kent Chorus and the Kent Choral Society;
• help the Kent Chorus plan at least two public concerts a year;
• encourage wider participation in the Kent Chorus and other choral activities;
• establish one or more choral scholarships for students at Kent State University; and
• develop a fundraising plan in support of our activities.
