Ballet Theatre of Ohio (BTO) was founded in 1993 by Artistic Director, Christine Meneer. In our 19th season, BTO has presented professional quality full-length classical ballets at the historic Akron Civic Theatre in downtown Akron, Ohio.

The Nutcracker is performed every holiday season and other full-length ballets including Cinderella, Coppelia, Sleeping Beauty and The Wizard of OZ are presented each spring. BTO attracts the largest ballet audience in Northeast Ohio.

Collaborations with other area organizations such as the Akron Public Schools, the Akron Symphony Orchestra and Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens have enabled the company to educate, enrich and entertain the Akron community, reaching over 20,000 people annually.
