The warm temperatures got us all excited but we all know we still have some winter weather ahead of us, but we can take advantage of these early days. Those of you that have no grass in those shade areas NOW is the time to get it sowed. The leaves will not be out for quite awhile, that gives the new grass seed time to germinate, shade grass seed does not germinate in the shade but will grow in the shade once it has germinated. Now is the time to Lime and put apply some starter lawn fertilizer. You can apply them one right after the other, first the Lime, then the starter fertilizer ( nothing with weed killer in it ) then the grass seed. Of course after you have raked off all of last years leaves. Get out and get the fresh air... Spring is right around the corner!
