 History of Shearer Farm, Inc.

Shearer Farm Equipment was started in 1937 by Clark Shearer and his son Gerald Shearer in Wooster, Ohio near the Wayne County Fairgrounds as an Oliver Dealer in what is known today as the old Carter Lumber building.During the 1940's, another son, Reno Shearer also joined Shearer Farm Equipment as it opened locations in Ashland and Millersburg. During the 1950's Shearer Farm Equipment moved next door to a new location which is currently Spurgeon Chevrolet.

In 1969, Shearer Farm Equipment was incorporated as Shearer Farm Implement Inc. In 1969, Shearer Farm Equipment moved again, this time across Old Lincoln Way to a new building which they would occupy until 1992. In 1971 Gerald Stair purchased Shearer Farm Implement Inc. and incorporated the business as Shearer Farm Inc. In 1978, Russ Lengacher became a partner with Gerald Stair. In 1983, Shearer Farm Inc purchases Twin City Implement of Dover. In 1987, Shearer Farm Inc closes its Dover location and opens a John Deere location in Wooster under the name Shearer Equipment. Shearer Equipment was originally located on SR 250 West of Wooster but in 1989 moved to its current location on SR 3 North of Wooster.

In 1992, Shearer Farm Inc closes its original location which was an Agco White dealership on Old Lincoln Way in Wooster. In 1993, Russ Lengacher becomes sole owner of Shearer Equipment. In 1999, Brian Giauque becomes a partner with Russ Lengacher. On June 2nd 1999, Shearer Equipment purchases the assets of Trac Line Inc of Mansfield and Mt Vernon and later that year closes the Mt Vernon location. In 2000, Shearer Equipment adds Shearer Electric Services to the Wooster location. In 2005, Conard and Mark Stitzlein becomes partners with Brian Giauque in Shearer Equipment as Russ Lengacher retires. On March 16th 2006, Shearer Equipment re-opens a location in Mt Vernon.

In 2007, The Ohio Spray Center, A Division of Shearer Equipment is created to market John Deere Commercial Application Equipment to Ag Service Providers in Ohio. On June 2nd 2008, Shearer Equipment purchases the assets of Bohn Implement Inc of Monroeville. Shearer Equipment currently has locations in Wooster, Mansfield, Mt Vernon and Monroeville Ohio and currently has over 90 employees. Shearer Equipment is one of only 50 John Deere Self Propelled Forage Harvester Dealers in North America, one of only 62 John Deere Commercial Application Dealers in North America.
